Goodwill vs. the antique mall, part 2

Well, I was finishing up my last day of work in Nashville today, and I decided to drop by the big antique mall (again) that I visited last week.

Have you ever noticed how sometimes you see something for the first time - and maybe you've seen it before, but this is the first time you noted it - and then once you've noticed that thing that you've never seen you suddenly keep seeing it everywhere?

I first noticed these really great vintage Holly Hobbie plates at an antique store in December.  You may remember them from a previous post:

I thought they'd be PERFECT for The House of Good Will, so I bought them for $10.50 each.

If you recall, I then saw them again at a Goodwill a few weeks later:

And at Goodwill, they were $3 each!

Well, there is a final chapter to this story (I think):

I saw one yet AGAIN at the big Nashville antique mall (the "city" antique center that's more expensive).

This one was a platter version:

Check out the price on this one!  $50!  I guess it's because the size is bigger...?

I actually think I like the shape and color of the smaller one with the same print better.  (And yes, it was $3 at Goodwill.)

So there you have it.  Goodwill vs. the antique mall vs. the "city" antique mall.

And that is why I keep going back to Goodwill.

And one other note, the reason I went back to the antique mall?  Remember this light fixture?

(Of course you do, this is the third time I've posted it's photo.)  Anyway, after thinking about it every day for a week, I realized God must be telling me I should buy it.

After seeing it the first time (for what I thought was a great price), I came home and scanned the house trying to figure out where I'd put it, and I have two places where I think it would be great.

So now I just have to paint the "gold" part.  (The "gold" is scratched up and kind of '80s-ish to start with.)

I'm looking foward to sharing it's do-over in a future post!
