I did something last week that was very wise, and very
unlike me to do. I’m quite proud of
myself.
While mulling over paint color possibilities for bathroom
and kitchen cabinets, I actually went to the local hardware store that sells
paint and forked over the money for sample pots.
Like I said, this was probably very wise (and unlike me).
In the past, a combination of impatience and frugality has
usually caused me to skip this step in the paint decision process. Previously I’ve always picked a color from a
paper swatch. To be honest, I’ve never
hated a color I’ve chosen either.
But there were probably a few times I would have altered the
shade a little.
Being older now (and clearly much wiser), and with no intentions
of repainting this house in my lifetime, I want to make ABSOLUTELY sure I pick
the colors I really, really like.
I came home and tested the colors out on the side of a
cabinet that will be in the garage. Here
they are:
I LOVE both of the shades of green and purple. I’m planning to use the dark shade of each on
some bathroom cabinets.
I’m not sure about the oranges. (?) I’m not sure if they are orangey enough. But I’m afraid that orange is one of those
colors that I could definitely go TOO orangey with.
These seem a little too peachy for me. Hmm. I’m
still processing.
A happy orange shade is what I want to paint the kitchen
cabinets. But not dark. And not too orange. I feel like this is definitely a decision I
need to get right.
And in other news, the UPS man delivered some more packages
– more stuff I ordered for the house. “That’s not the look of someone who remembers what they
ordered,” he informed me as he set the boxes down.
He was right about that.
I had ordered a couple of luggage racks from Wayfair for future guests –
the kind of thing you need but can’t count on to find at a thrift store. Apparently the warehouse has no luggage rack
size boxes – just front door size boxes.
Mystery solved.
And this box – that happened to contain the dog gate for the
deck – I guess I read it wrong at first. It looked to me like it was missing a question mark. Can honey do?
I told my husband I thought the box was issuing him a challenge.
“Well,” I asked him, “can honey do?”
I saw him eye the box, another hour of his life waiting to be worked.
"Definitely not," he replied.
Score one for the box, zero for me.

But I'm sure honey "did." Can't wait to see the post on THAT one!
